I like to write in general but this is something I have felt kind of led to do. I'm basically writting this to help young girls who struggle with loving themselves. And I didn't quite realize how much it could possible might just help til I read multiple posts on this forum(sigh ok it is a depression forum lol yes I joined a depression forum I use to have depression and I am secure enough in myself to admit that to strangers! ) so I've been on this forum for years right and i like to go on and write replies with my wonderful Godgiven wisdom, and I keep seeing the same thing over and over. And it is creepily familiar. "I'm fat, I'm ugly, I want to be normal, I hate myself, I wish I were thin, I worry my boyfriend doesn't find me attractive,I want to die"
Ok the last one you see all the time on the forum cause duh it's depression. But basically I keep seeing young girls highschool up to around my age and some older who don't like themselves. And what's scary is they are sometimes saying the EXACT SAME THINGS I said in highschool. It's like looking in a mirror almost. I realize "dang, I'm not the only one who went through that, but now I like myself and I want them to like themselves too and to know they are worth it they ARE pretty and they deserve respect and are not alone"
So I'm writting a fictional fantasy story that deviates from most fantasy stories as even though it has magic potions, a shape shifter, and happens in a dream world where the weather is sporadic and impossible(sunny one side snow the other) the main character's villians are her insecurities. In fact I "humanized" bulimia, selfesteem issues and self image issues into a character. Yes, I made the worst monster ever! lol and since the books predominatley revolves around selfimage what better way than to add a shapeshifter?(shapeshifters don't give a crap about appearance they know it it can decieve. and the main character amy uses shapeshifter blood to change her looks. No more spoilers..) And i FINALLY got a name for it I think.. "Eggshells"
Let me explain it is a metphor for people who focus so much on the outside and their beauty they neglect their heart and personality, you know the people on reality tv who obsess over looks and act like 4 year olds? They are like empty eggshells,frail, weak and ready to crumble without any foundation. Does that make sense?
well anyways once i get my homework done I'm off to write "eggshells" as I will call it unless a more suitable name comes up, and I plan to post it this weekend maybe or thanksgiving. And I will post it on that forum in hopes that it may help some people.
Also since I am actually planning on attempting to publish the thing when i finish(yes somehow i will figuire out how to do it) please don't steal the ideas..or I'll KILL YOU heheheh n.n;;.
Ok time to go to bed it's late..and a good friday night spent doing math and chemistry and english homework,and there's still more to be done! oh joy!
